Application code evolved. Infrastructure became programmable. But databases? They were still managed through scripts, tickets, and shared credentials.

As teams scaled, the risks scaled with them: outages caused by manual changes, over-privileged access, audit scrambles, and knowledge trapped in a few people's heads.
